Today at the Georgia Dome at 4:00 P.M., there will be a rematch of the Week 4 match up, which Auburn won in a thriller 35-27. The Auburn Tigers who are 12-0 and has the #1 spot in the BCS Ranking, will face off against South Carolina who are 9-3 and ranked #19 in the BCS Standings. Cam Newton, the Heisman front runner has been cleared to play by the NCAA to play in this game. With a victory Auburn will play in the BCS National Championship Game in Glendale, Arizona. South Carolina with a victory will make a BCS Bowl Berth. Either way, Auburn will make a BCS Game.
For South Carolina to pull off the upset they need to do two things in my mind. First, they need to keep the Time Of Possession in their favor by running Freshman Sensation Marcus Lattimore early and often. He has shown he can be a work horse by running for 1114 yards 17 TD'S on 232 attempts this year. The second thing they have to do is not turn the ball over. They lost the game the first time because of turning the ball over. They had a shot to win without the turnovers but that doomed them. Also, they only ran Lattimore 3 times in the second half, they have to run him more often than that. Stephen Garcia must play efficient football and he must get the ball to Alshon Jeffery who has 1351 receiving yards and 8 TD'S.I think he can be a difference maker in this one.
For Auburn to go onto the National Championship Game, Cam Newton must play even better than he did last week against Alabama. He led them back from a 24-0 deficit to win 28-27.He had four total TD'S but I think he needs to play better. Michael Dyer and Onterio McCalebb has to help Newton in the running game and when Newton does throw the ball, Darvin Adams and Terrell Zachery must catch the ball. Also, there defense has to contain Lattimore and Garcia. I think Auburn's Game Changer is DT Nick Fairley he has to be a disruptive force and can't give up big plays.
Auburn I think will win this but closer than people expect. I think South Carolina will give Auburn all it can handle but Auburn will come out with the victory. I think Auburn will win it 34-30 and they will go on to play Oregon in the BCS National Championship Game. If Auburn goes on to the National Championship Game, I think they will beat Oregon in a shootout but that's for another day. Today will have a lot of games filled with BCS hopes. Connecticut has a chance to get in with a win and West Virginia and Pittsburgh still have a chance to get in. Also there is two other Championship Games today in the ACC and Big 12 Championship Games.Today is a great day for College Football fans. I hope you all enjoy the games today because I know I will.
